Mesquite – Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 635

Two people were killed following a deadly vehicle collision on Interstate 635 near U.S. Highway 80, early Wednesday.

According to the preliminary crash report, the accident happened at around 1:30 a.m. on I-635, also known as Lyndon B Johnson Freeway. A Honda Civic was traveling along the southbound lane in the opposite direction when it crashed head-on with a Chevrolet Tahoe that was heading south.

Both drivers of the two vehicles died as a result of the crash. Their identifications were not released pending notification of their families.

The Mesquite Police Department was requested to assist in the clearing. They have yet to determine the reason why the driver of the Honda was traveling in the opposite direction.

An investigation is underway.
