McAllen – Student Hurt in Pedestrian Crash on Gumwood Ave

A student from an elementary school was hospitalized after getting hit by a car on Gumwood Avenue in McAllen, Friday.

According to the preliminary investigation, the incident occurred around the bus loading area near Alvarez Elementary School on Gumwood Avenue. A student was around the vicinity when he was struck by a vehicle. Police said the impact of the crash caused a power outage.

The student, whose identification has not yet been determined, sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the accident. His condition was not immediately disclosed.

No one else was injured, as per reports.

Local investigators arrived at the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident. Anyone who has information about the collision should get in contact with McAllen Police Department.
