Man suffers minor burn injuries, 20 displaced in SE Houston apartment fire

HOUSTON, TX – A man suffered minor burn injuries in an apartment fire in southeast Houston that forced 20 others from their homes yesterday afternoon, according to KPRC2.
The blaze started near Calhoun Road and MacGregor Way at the Beall Village apartment complex. At about 1 p.m., a mattress caught fire in a unit on the second floor.
The fire reportedly engulfed the apartment by the time fire officials had arrived at the scene.
A man, whose identity has not yet been publicly revealed, was taken to the hospital with burn injuries on his hand.
About 20 people from the second- and third-floor units were displaced as a result of the blaze.
The complex housed many vulnerable residents, including people with disabilities and the elderly, and officials declared their relief that nobody was seriously injured.
The Red Cross has been called in to help the displaced victims.
The fire remains under investigation at this time.
