Man killed in hit-and-run bicycle crash in NE Harris County

SHELDON, TX – A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Sheldon area in northeastern Harris County this morning, according to information from KTRK.
The collision happened near Van Road and north of Highway 90 in the 9900 block of Sheldon Road as a bicyclist, identified as Raymond Daniel Wike, was traveling southbound.

A driver failed to control the speed of their vehicle and then hit Wike from behind. The driver then fled the scene, without stopping to render aid to the struck victim.

Wike was taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash and to search for the hit-and-run driver.
