Man killed in crash involving suspect fleeing police in west Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A man died early Monday morning after a two-vehicle crash involving a suspect who was fleeing police in Houston’s Westchase area, reports FOX26 Houston.
The fatal collision occurred at the corner of Wilcrest Drive and Meadowglen Lane shortly after 12:15 a.m.
According to Houston Police Department, the events unfolded at a gas station on Richmond Avenue, where an officer saw a man standing outside of a vehicle with an open container.
As the officer approached the vehicle on foot, the driver and two other occupants sped away while the man with the open container remained at the scene.
The officer turned on their lights and began pursuing the suspect vehicle, but soon lost sight of the car for a while before spotting it again at the crash site on Wilcrest and Meadowglen.
Authorities learned the driver of the suspect vehicle, a 20-year-old man, ran a red light and hit another vehicle at the intersection.
The driver of the victim vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect driver and two other occupants, a man and a woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transproted to a local hospital.
An investigation remains in progress.
