Man inspecting car after crash killed by hit-and-run driver on Beltway 8

HOUSTON, TX – A man who was inspecting his vehicle after a crash was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Beltway 8 early this morning, according to KHOU.
The initial crash happened on the southbound Beltway near Clay Road at around 3 a.m., after two vehicles collided.
The driver, a man, got out of his vehicle to inspect the damage when he was struck by the driver of a third vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The third driver then fled the scene before stopping at a gas station about four to five miles away. They were taken into police custody and are facing a charge of failing to stop and render aid.
Authorities do not believe that intoxication played a role in the collision.
