Man fatally struck by pickup truck on S Kirkwood Dr in west Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A man died Sunday night after being hit by a pickup truck that was carrying a family in west Houston’s Alief area, according to Click2Houston.
The fatal incident occurred in the 4300 block of Kirkwood Drive, near High Star Drive, at about 10:20 p.m.
Houston Police said a pedestrian, believed to be in his early 30s, was walking in the road’s northbound lanes when he was hit by a northbound driver in a pickup truck.
The driver, who was traveling with his wife and children in the vehicle, stopped after the crash.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding EMS crews.
According to authorities, the driver and his wife were detained for questioning.
It is unclear at this time whether any charges are expected to be filed, but police said the victim was not using a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash.
An investigation remains underway to determine whether impairment contributed to the event.
