HOUSTON, TX — A man died early Monday after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of El Buho Bar in southeast Houston’s Southbelt/Ellington area, reports News 4 San Antonio.

Houston Police said the fatal incident occurred off Fuqua Street, near Interstate 45, at approximately 2:00 a.m.

An early investigation shows a man and a woman were on foot in the bar’s parking lot when they were hit by a speeding black pickup truck whose driver fled the scene.

Authorities said the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The woman suffered a broken leg and was taken to a local hospital.

No further details have been shared, but police said they believe the suspect driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash, and that the vehicle should have front-end damage.

A search and an investigation were underway.
