Man dies after van catches fire near residence in Houston’s South Side

HOUSTON, TX — A 66-year-old man early Sunday morning after a vehicle fire near a residential neighborhood in Houston’s South Side, according to ABC13 Houston.

Houston Fire Department crews responded to the scene on Tierwester Street at around 6:00 a.m.

Few details have been provided at this time, but a witness told authorities the man appeared to have been burning a candle on the van’s dashboard at around 10:00 p.m. hours before.

The family of the nearby residence said they knew the victim and that he usually lived and stayed in his vehicle.

An investigation remains ongoing, but authorities do no believe foul play was involved.
