Man dies after crashing pickup truck into tree on Clay Rd in Katy

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A man was killed Sunday evening in a single-vehicle collision near Lone Star College-Cypress Center in northeast Katy, reports the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the fatal crash happened at 20000 Clay Road at approximately 6:17 p.m.
The man was behind the wheel of a 2001 Nissan Frontier pickup truck going eastbound in lane #2 when he swerved to lane #1. The pickup continued to run off the roadway until it collided with a tree in the center median dividing the east and westbound lanes.
First responders confirmed the victim died at the scene. He was found to have not been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The accident remains under investigation by the HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division.
