Man dies after crashing into tree near the South Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – A man died from injuries sustained in a wreck on the South Freeway on the afternoon of Thursday, October 15, according to the Houston Police Department.

Authorities say the victim was traveling in a gray Volkswagen Jetta northbound near 6000 South Freeway when he failed to control his speed and slammed into a nearby tree. He reportedly went home after the crash.

The victim’s brother found the man dead at their residence at 3600 Southmore the next day. It is not known if the man suffered a medical emergency or his death was related to the crash.
