Man dies after being thrown from car after colliding with guardrail

HOUSTON, TX – A man died after being thrown from his car after colliding with a guardrail on the morning of Sunday, February 7,  the Harris County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Juan Cruz was driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla near 2400 South Sam Houston West. He, for an unknown reason, lost control of his vehicle and hit a nearby guardrail. His vehicle rolled over several times after the crash and Cruz was partially thrown from the Corolla.

He was declared dead at the scene by emergency responders. Authorities say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The collision remains under investigation.
