Man dies after being hit by tractor-trailer on IH-610 in north Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A man died Sunday night after being struck by a tractor-trailer on the North Loop West Freeway in Houston’s Independence Heights area, according to The Leader.
The fatal incident occurred in the 500 block of the freeway shortly before 2:30 a.m. that morning.
Houston Police Department said the pedestrian had been trying to cross the freeway when he was hit by a westbound tractor-trailer towing a refrigerated box truck.
Medics rushed the victim to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities said the driver, who stopped and attempted to assist the victim, was not suspected of impairment and was released after questioning.
