HOUSTON, TX — A 25-year-old man died early Wednesday after being struck by the vehicle at the drive-thru window of a Burger King in southwest Houston, reports KHOU11.
Houston Police Department said officers responded to the scene at the location on West Sam Houston Parkway South, in the city’s Westwood neighborhood, shortly after midnight.
A preliminary investigation indicates a homeless couple approached the drive-thru window on foot in an attempt to order food, but the employees declined to serve them, citing the restaurant’s policy of no walk-up orders. A dispute is believed to have ensued between the store’s manager and the couple. A short time later, the manager is seen on video leaving for a break in his vehicle, which makes contact with the young man in the drive-thru.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, confirmed authorities.
At this time, an investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the events leading up to the young man’s death.
