Man crossing street fatally struck by allegedly drunk truck driver

MISSION BEND, TX – A man is dead, and a truck driver is facing charges after he allegedly struck the victim while driving under the influence in the Mission Bend area early yesterday morning.
According to KTRK, the collision happened at about 2 a.m. near the intersection of Bellaire Boulevard and Highway 6, when a 59-year-old man was crossing the street at a crosswalk.
He was then struck by a truck driver who is thought to have been driving home from a party.
The victim, who has not been identified pending family notification, died at the scene.
The driver was taken into police custody. He is facing DWI charges, and depending on how an investigation proceeds, these may be upgraded to intoxication manslaughter.
