Man charged with intoxication manslaughter after Spring hit-and-run

SPRING, TX – Updating our previously reported story, a 72-year-old man has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter after the hit-and-run accident that left a woman dead Sunday evening.
Donald Gene Lane was swerving across several lanes of traffic on FM 2920 when he hit an unidentified 20-year-old woman near the intersection of Hannover Forest. Emergency responders arrived at around 9:00 pm and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Sheriff’s deputies detained Lane, who told them he had been smoking marijuana after failing a field sobriety check. He has an arrest record stretching back more than 40 years, and is currently being held on $40,000 bail.
