Madison County – Head-on Collision on SH 90 Leaves 1 Dead

A Madisonville man was pronounced deceased following a fatal vehicle accident on State Highway 90 last Friday night.
According to initial reports, a motorcycle was seen heading north on SH 90 four miles south of Madisonville at around 10:00 p.m. As the motorcycle approaches Farm to Market Road 1452, a 2019 Cadillac Escalade that was traveling along the southbound lane struck it. Police said that the Escalade was attempting to pass in a no-passing zone of the highway.
The motorcycle rider, identified only as a 46-year-old Madisonville male resident, was killed on scene. He was wearing a helmet. Responding officers said that occupants in the SUV were hurt but none of them sustained critical injuries.
The Escalade driver was identified as Blas Soto Somoza, 25, of Lewisville. It was not stated if he was hurt.
No citations have been issued as the investigation is ongoing.
