Lubbock – Two-Car Collision on 4th Street

The Lubbock Police Department is investigating a two-vehicle crash on 4th Street, Saturday afternoon, April 6.
At around 3:30 p.m., a fatal car accident was reported at the intersection of 4th Street and Toledo Avenue. A vehicle was heading east on 4th Street when it went straight ahead as it approaches a turn lane, ultimately colliding with a pickup truck that hauling a trailer.
The driver of the car was rushed to a local hospital where she was declared deceased upon arrival. She has since been identified as 18-year-old Brenda Castorena. A 22-year-old male passenger in the car and the 71-year-old male driver of the pickup truck were transported to a hospital for further care. Authorities said they both sustained serious injuries from the crash.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the LPD Major Crash Investigation Unit.
