Lubbock – Motorcycle Accident on Wayne Avenue

The Lubbock Police Department is investigating a motorcycle vs vehicle crash on Wayne Avenue, Tuesday morning.
At around 6:45 p.m., local troopers were requested to assist in a collision on 38th Street near Wayne Avenue. Based on a preliminary investigation, a 2008 Honda motorcycle was traveling westbound on 38th St when, for yet unknown reasons, it collided with a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix that was heading south on Wayne Avenue. Authorities said the driver of the Pontiac was waiting for his go signal at the intersection when the motorcycle struck its rear.
As a result, the rider of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries. He was taken to UMC by EMS and died shortly after. Meanwhile, the driver of the Pontiac suffered from minor injuries.
No identification has been released at this time.
The Lubbock Police Department Major Crash Unit is leading the investigation.
