Lubbock – Bicycle Accident on North Detroit Avenue Leaves 1 Seriously Injured

A bicyclist suffered from serious injuries after getting in a collision with a vehicle on North Detroit Avenue, Sunday evening.
At around 9:30 p.m., Lubbock local police officials were dispatched at the intersection of North Detroit Avenue and Emory Street to assist in a collision. According to initial reports, a bicycle was heading west towards the said cross street when it got struck by a pickup truck that was turning towards a corner.
The bicyclist was badly injured and was rushed to UMC for medical treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries at a later time. No identification has been released pending notification of the victim’s next of kin.
Authorities did not release any information about the driver of the truck.
The Lubbock Police Department arrived at the scene to gather more information about the case. An investigation is underway.
