Lubbock– 52-year-old Woman Struck and Killed on 27th Street

The Lubbock Police Department is still investigating an auto versus pedestrian collision on 27th Street, Tuesday night.
At around 11:00 p.m., police responded to a report of a collision on 27th Street near Avenue Q. According to initial reports, a woman was walking with her dog near the area when she was hit by a passing sport utility vehicle. The driver did not stop to render aid to the victim and sped off.
The impact of the collision killed the woman instantly. Her identification has not yet been released pending notification of her next of kin. Her dog was also pronounced dead.
Authorities later located a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban in a motel parking lot on 66th Street. Police believed it is the suspect vehicle.
No information about the driver was released.
