Lubbock – 1 Killed, 1 Injured When Driver Ran a Stop Sign on US 70

The Lubbock Police Department is investigating a car accident involving a reckless driver on US 70, early Tuesday morning.
At around 5:28 a.m., area authorities were requested to assist in a collision which happened on US 70 near Farm to Market Road 1424. According to initial reports, a vehicle was seen traveling along the highway when, for yet unknown reasons, it entered the intersection on a red light and collided with another car.
The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead as a result of the crash. The operator of the first vehicle sustained injuries and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Local paramedics said that his injuries were considered serious.
No identification has been released at this time.
Local investigators arrived at the scene to determine the factors that caused the collision.
