Loving County – Two Died in Fatal Vehicle Crash on TX 302 Identified

Loving County officials have released the name of the victims who died in a fatal car accident on Texas 302

According to the report, local police responded to State Highway 302, five miles of Mentone, after receiving a call reporting a collision at around 4:00 p.m. A 2019 Peterbilt truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer was traveling along the westbound lane of the highway when it collided with a 2017 Ford F-250 pickup truck. Initial investigation indicates that the Petebilt failed to yield the right of way to the pickup truck, prompting the crash.

The impact of the crash killed both the driver and passenger of the Ford. They were identified as James Martin, 40, from Oro Valley Arizona, and Toby Smith, 43, of McLean, Texas.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured, as per authorities.

An investigation is underway.
