Longview – John Garnett Died in Hit-and-Run Crash

The Longview Police Department is still looking for the driver who fled the scene following a fatal car collision on North 4th Street, Friday evening.
According to the report, the victim has been identified as 65-year-old John Garnett.
Just after 6:00 p.m., local responders received a call reporting a car collision at the 3300 block of North 4th Street. When they responded to the scene, they found John Garnett lying in the roadway, suffering from major injuries. Garnett was immediately taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver who struck Garnett sped off without providing aid to him. His vehicle was described as a gray pickup truck. Its make and model remains unknown at this time.
An investigation is underway.
