Long Beach – Pedestrian killed on Park Avenue

At least one killed and one injured following a pedestrian accident on East Park Avenue near a shopping center, local firefighters say.
Nassau County Police Department responded to the scene after receiving a call at around 12:30 a.m. According to the report, two people were heading north East Park Avenue, when for yet unknown reasons, a westbound 1999 Buick Century struck them.
The force of impact instantly killed the other pedestrian. She was identified as 57-year-old Julia Morales. The male pedestrian, whose identity remains unknown, sustained multiple fractures, a broken spine, and a lacerated kidney. He was immediately taken to a hospital by Long Beach Fire Department. His condition is said to be critical but stable.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. He is a volunteer firefighter and was reportedly responding to a call when the accident took place. His identification was not released.
