Leander—Man Died in Auto-Pedestrian Collision on Southwest Drive

A 65-year-old man was killed after he was struck by a vehicle on Southwest Drive, March 8.

According to a report released by Leander Police Department, the pedestrian was walking south on Crystal Falls Parkway at Southwest Drive when he was hit by a passing 2005 Pontiac. Emergency crews immediately responded to the scene after receiving the said report at around 7:14 p.m.

The pedestrian was identified as Maxey Bass. He was a 65-year-old resident of Leander.

Authorities did not confirm whether the driver stayed and helped the victim or fled the scene.

The roadway was temporarily shut down to give way for clearing. No further details are available as the investigation is still ongoing.
