Lampasas – Douglas Wheeler Struck and Killed by Pickup Truck on FM 2527

Lampasas law enforcement officials have released the name of the bicyclist who died in a collision with a pickup truck on Farm to Market 2527 Road, Sunday afternoon.
The fatality was identified as 56-year-old Douglas Wheeler.
At around 12:15 p.m., local troopers responded to the scene of a crash on FM 2527 just north of FM 580. According to initial reports, Wheeler was riding his bike along the southbound lane of the road when he was hit by a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck. Wheeler was pronounced dead by emergency crews who arrived at the site of the crash.
The driver of the pickup truck was later identified as 68-year-old Curtis Windham. He was not hurt.
