Kyle – Edward Ortiz Killed in Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Interstate 35

Local officials have released the name of the motorcycle operator who died in a car accident on Interstet 35, Sunday evening.

The fatality was identified as Edward Ortiz, Jr., 41, of Kyle. He was riding a motorcycle when it collided with an 18-wheeler truck.

According to initial reports, the incident took place at around 10:00 p.m. along southbound I-35 near mile marker 217 in the Kyle area. Ortiz was riding his motorcycle at an unsafe speed when it collided with an 18-wheeler. Ortiz was then pinned underneath upon impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Hays County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith.

No one else was injured.

All lanes of southbound Interstate 35 have been shut down.

Kyle police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
