Kilgore – James Michael Evans Died in Fatal Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20

An early Friday morning crash caused the death of a Kilgore man on Interstate 20, a local news source reported.

According to local troopers, the incident took place just before 2:00 a.m. A pickup truck was traveling along I-20 when it encountered a mechanical problem. Its driver and a passenger were pushing the vehicle to a secured area when a westbound tractor-trailer struck one of them. The impact of the collision killed the pedestrian instantly. He was later identified as James Michael Evans, 56, of Kilgore. No words on the passenger of the pickup truck.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as William Rex Weimer, 42, and his occupant, Helmuth Behringer, 58, did not sustain any injury. Authorities said that they are both from Burkesville, Kentucky.

No charges have been filed as the investigation is still in progress.
