Kaufman County – Major Crash on Highway 80 Leaves Several Injured, 1 Dead

Elmo local officials are conducting an investigation about a two-vehicle accident on US Highway 80 in eastern Kaufman County.
At around 7:00 p.m., local DPS troopers were dispatched to US 80 near County Road 316 after they received a call reporting a crash between a car and a truck. Initial investigation shows that a Lexus was traveling from CR 317 when it was struck by a flatbed truck as it crosses Hwy 80. An occupant in the Lexus died upon impact. Among the six injured parties, two were rushed to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. The rest of the victims were transported by emergency crews via an ambulance. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed at this time.
No charges have been made as the investigation is still in progress.
