Jim Wells County-33-year-old Man Struck and Killed by A Car on US 281

A fatal Tuesday night crash took the life of a Falfurrias man on US Highway 281 near Premont, according to the Texas Department of Safety.
At around 9:38 p.m, a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze was heading south on US 281 when it struck a man that was attempting to cross the southbound lanes. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The pedestrian was identified as 33-year-old Ricardo Rodriguez.
No other injuries were reported as of this writing.
Preliminary investigation shows that the area was dark and poorly lit when the accident took place. No charges have been made as the investigation is still ongoing.
DPS officials were called onto the scene to determine liability.
