Jefferson County – Auto vs Pedestrian Collision on Highway 69

A teen was pronounced deceased after getting hit by a car on Highway 69, Friday evening, January 24th.
According to initial reports, a teen was attempting to cross Hwy 69 near Spurlock Road when he was struck by an undescribed vehicle. When local paramedics responded to the scene, they found the victim already lifeless. Another teenager, who was accompanying the victim while crossing the highway, did not sustain injuries. Their identification was withheld.
The driver of the vehicle involved initially left the scene but later came back to the scene of the collision. He is cooperating in the investigation.
Jefferson County police were requested at the scene to determine the circumstances leading up to the accident. No charges have been made as of this writing.
The case is still under investigation.
