HPD officer injured after crashing on rainy roadway while responding to call

HOUSTON, TX – A police officer was injured after he crashed his vehicle on rain-slicked roadways while headed to a call on Friday night, according to KHOU.

The collision occurred in the 11800 block of Riceville School Road, as a Houston Police officer was responding to an “assault in progress” call. He lost control of his vehicle on the roadway due to the heavy rain and crashed into a ditch.

Luckily, the officer sustained only minor injuries, and did not require hospitalization.

No other people were reported injured during the crash.
