HPD officer hurt in crash with DUI suspect on Katy Fwy near NW Houston

HOUSTON, TX — An HPD officer was hospitalized Thursday night after his patrol car was sideswiped by a DUI suspect on Katy Freeway in northwest Houston, reports FOX26 Houston.

The incident occurred in the 13600 block of the freeway, near North Eldridge Parkway, at around 9:22 p.m.

According to the Houston Police Department, the officer was conducting a traffic stop on another car and was slowing down to pull onto the shoulder when his vehicle was clipped by a gray Ford Focus.

The officer suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

After an evaluation, the driver of the Focus was determined to be impaired and was arrested for DWI at the scene.
