Last Monday, a veteran Roman Forest police officer was struck by a pickup truck on North Loop 610, according to a local news source.
Just before 10:00 a.m., a police officer who was riding a motorcycle was assisting a large load along North Loop 610 when, for reasons that are still under investigation, he was rear-ended by a pickup truck. The officer, identified only as a Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office deputy, was dragged for an unspecified distance by the truck before it completely stopped.
The officer was immediately transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with injuries that were considered non-life threatening. His condition remains unknown but according to a constable’s officials, he is expected to recover.
No words on whether the truck driver sustained injuries. He remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Charges against the suspect driver have yet to be determined by the Houston Police Department.
We are deeply saddened for the family and loved ones of the injured victim. Our prayers and thoughts are with them. We strongly believe that the Houston Police Department will do everything to bring those responsible to justice.
Texas is among the states in the US that have the most car accidents which involved injuries and fatalities every year. Some of the common factors contributing to the rising cases of collisions in the area include the worsening traffic situation, weather conditions, and poor driving habits.
Bad driving habits are the greatest cause of a fatal crash. It can be lethal to the person behind the wheel, as well as the drivers on the road. Drivers who do not use their signal to change lanes or those who do not secure their blind spots before shifting direction are more likely to be involved in an accident. Some of the most dangerous driving habits include speeding, unsafe lane change, tailgating, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you or someone you love has been a victim of a car accident with a negligent driver, you have a right to fair compensation for the trauma you experienced and the injuries you have suffered.
