Houston – Two Died in Fatal Pedestrian Collision on Sam Houston Tollway

A deadly pedestrian accident took the lives of two people on Sam Houston Tollway, Tuesday.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred on Sam Houston Tollway near Beechnut Street. Police said two people were sleeping under the underpass when a passing vehicle went off the roadway and struck the two pedestrians. Initial investigation shows that the driver was escaping from a previous incident prior to getting involved in the crash. The impact of the crash left the two victims with fatal injuries. They pronounced deceased by local responders who arrived at the scene. No identification has been released at this time.

Officers did not release further information about the driver who struck the victims. It was not determined if he remained at the scene following the collision.

The Houston Police Department is investigating the case.
