Houston – Pedestrian injured following a hit-and-run crash

A woman was hospitalized after getting involved in a pedestrian collision that took place in the 13400 block of Topeka.

Initial reports say that the crash happened at around 8:55 p.m., Sunday. A car was pulling out of a parking lot when it struck a pedestrian crossing the street. The striking vehicle did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the scene.

The victim, whose identification has yet to be released, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of her injuries was not disclosed. The suspect, identified as Omario Gatheright, was reportedly an off-duty Aldine ISD police officer. He came back to the scene a few moments after the accident. Gatheright was placed on administrative leave as the investigation progresses.
