Houston – Pedestrian Collision on Gulf Fwy Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Injured

A major crash on Gulf Freeway resulted in the death of one person and injuries to another, a local news source reported.
According to initial reports, the incident took place near the Cullen exit on the Gulf Freeway. Police said a vehicle, that was traveling at an unsafe speed, struck two drivers who were talking to each other. The force of the impact sent the pedestrians into the HOV lane, leaving them with injuries. One of the drivers sustained critical injuries and was taken to the nearest hospital where he was listed in an unknown condition. Meanwhile, the other pedestrian was pronounced deceased by emergency crews.
Houston police said the driver of the speeding vehicle was under the influence when the accident took place. It was not clear if he was taken into custody.
An investigation is underway.
