An unnamed 21-year-old man died after the vehicle he was in crashed into a tree in southeast Houston around 2 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019. The crash happened in the 9000 block of Clearwood, near the Gulf Freeway.
According to reports, a black Chevrolet Silverado was going west on Clearwood when suddenly, it left the road and then hit a tree.
The 21-year-old, who was a passenger in the truck, died at the hospital. Meanwhile, the driver was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in an unknown condition.
The 21-year-old man isn’t the first victim whose life is taken away because of a car accident; many other unfortunate individuals suffered the same fate. Car accidents are a serious problem in this day and age, and yet they still happen quite often. According to the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA), car accidents happen almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, a car accident occurs that results in death. So that is roughly about 6 million car accidents every year and 90 people dying in car accidents every day in the U.S. alone.
The three common causes of car accidents are DUI (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs), speeding, and driving while distracted. Whatever was the case for this particular vehicular accident, it is unfortunate to hear of the passing of one of the individuals involved.
If anyone finds themselves in a car accident, or if anyone has a loved one who is involved in an accident, never lose hope because help will always be available for them.
