Houston – Driver of DUI Crash on South Loop 610 Charged

A 55-year-old man died after getting hit by a driver on South Loop 610 near Texas 288, according to a local news source.
Police said the collision occurred along the eastbound lanes of South Loop 610 at around 7:20 p.m. A man stepped out of his Ford Taurus near the exit ramp to Texas 288 to change his tire when a Ford F-150 pickup truck struck him and his Taurus. The impact of the crash seriously injured both the Taurus and pickup truck drivers. They were transported to a Ben Taub Hospital where the Taurus driver was pronounced deceased. His identification was withheld.
The suspect driver, identified as John Richard Vasquez, 60, was determined to be intoxicated during the time of the crash. He was then charged with murder, as per reports, Tuesday evening.
