Houston driver killed in collision with 18-wheeler

HOUSTON, TX – A driver was killed while attempting to pass an 18-wheeler on Wednesday the Houston Chronicle reports.
The truck was facing south in the northbound lane near Nunn Street and Lindbergh Street at approximately 3 p.m. Police report, the driver began to drift into the southbound lane as he reversed.
Simultaneously, a man driving a Cadillac DTS was headed south on Nunn Street and tried to pass the truck. However, he clipped the back right corner of the truck. Witnesses reported the Cadillac was driving at a high speed at the time of the collision.
The collision ripped the roof from the Cadillac, which landed roughly 30 feet away from the vehicle. The 34-year-old driver of the Cadillac was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Â The truck driver cooperated with authorities who determined he was not impaired.
The license plate of the  Cadillac was registered to a home less than a mile away from the site of the accident.
