An air conditioning unit lying on the road caused a car pile-up involving six vehicles on North Freeway, Monday night.
Just before 11:00p.m., the AC unit fell off a truck in the northbound lane at the 3500 block of Interstate 45. A vehicle swerved to another lane to avoid it which caused it to collide with an off-duty officer’s vehicle. Another vehicle heading north crashed into the first vehicle in an effort to avoid the AC unit. Three more vehicles piled up after rear-ending each other’s vehicle.
The impact of the collision sent one woman to a hospital. Her identification and condition were not released by local officials. Whether she is a driver or a passenger of one of the six vehicles involved is yet to be confirmed.
Local investigators were requested to the scene to determine liability. The investigation is underway.
Our deepest sympathies to the victim of this unfortunate event. We pray for their full recovery as we hope that the Houston Police Department will do everything to bring those responsible to justice.
A car accident is an overwhelming experience. If you have been involved in an accident, the first thing you should do is seek medical attention for yourself and anyone who needs it. After this, you’ll want to alert your insurance provider regarding damages or injuries you sustained from the collision. To submit a claim, you would need to gather documents supporting your claim. These may include a video of the scene or a photograph of the damages to the vehicles, police reports stating the facts of the accident, and medical records indicating the severity of your injury, to name a few.
