Houston–Calbert James Waller Dies in Plane Crash on Westerpine Lane

Local authorities have identified the victim who died in a plane accident on Westerpine Lane near Katy, reports say.
Just after 4:00 p.m., emergency crews responded to the 22000 block of Westerpine Lane after receiving a call reporting a crash. According to initial reports, a single-engine Mooney M20, for yet unknown reasons, crashed nose first in a wooded area in Katy. Preliminary investigation shows that the plane first clipped a power line before hitting the ground.
The pilot, who authorities believed was the only occupant during the incident, died from the impact. He was identified as 69-year-old Calbert James Waller.
No additional details were released as of this writing.
The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation into the cause.
