Two children sustained various injuries when a big rig and three more vehicles collided on Interstate 10, also known as Katy Freeway, early Tuesday morning, the Houston Police Department said.
At around 6:40 a.m., police officers responded to Katy Freeway near Greenhouse Road after being notified of a collision. A preliminary investigation shows that a gray Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling along the highway when it struck a vehicle that was disabled on the freeway. Two occupants in the pickup truck, a 3-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy, were hurt as a result of the crash. They were taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital where they were listed in critical condition.
No one else was injured, as per responding officers.
No citations have been issued at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the friends and families of the injured victims. We pray for their full recovery as we hope that the Houston Police Department will do everything to bring those responsible to justice.
Injuries caused by vehicle collisions can vary from crash to crash. Some injuries may heal within a span of days while others could paralyze a victim’s body for a month. The most commonly known car accident injuries include neck and chest and head and back injuries. Broken and ligament damages are also quite common.
Sometimes, a car accident can cause serious injuries to multiple parties—and filing a claim can get complicated. To make sure your claim is successful, you need to gather supporting evidence and documents that can back up your claim. It could be a detailed account of the accident you are involved in or documents indicating the extent of injuries you sustained. These may include a video or photograph of the scene, police reports, and medical records, to name a few.
