HOUSTON, TX — A 57-year-old woman was seriously injured on Monday, January 17, in a pedestrian collision involving a hit-and-run driver in north Houston, reports KHOU11.

Houston Police said the incident occurred in the 1400 block of Gears Road, in the city’s Greater Greenspoint area, at approximately 8:45 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the woman was crossing the street when she was hit by a male driver in a white SUV. After the crash, the man was said to have gotten out of the vehicle and moved the victim off the roadway. He then got back into the SUV and fled the scene without rendering aid.

Responding medics rushed the victim to a local hospital with serious injuries. Authorities said she is expected to recover.

An investigation and search for the suspect remain underway.
