Hit-and-run driver sought after crash with squad car in west Houston

HOUSTON, TX — Houston police are searching for a driver who hit a police cruiser at a fatal crash scene Wednesday night on State Highway 6 in west Houston, reports Houston Chronicle.

The incident occurred during the course of the investigation for a motorcycle wreck on the southbound highway near Piping Rock Lane shortly after 8:45 p.m.

Authorities said a driver in a red Jeep Renegade drove through the site, struck a marked squad car, and nearly hit multiple officers, prompting a police pursuit.

The suspect was ultimately able to flee police and has not been located as of this writing.

No injuries have been reported in the event.
