Hillister – Carly Jacobs Among Injured in 18-Wheeler Collision

A 15-year-old teen driver was sent to the hospital after getting involved in a collision on Farm to Market Road 1013 near County Road 4535, February 11th.

The driver was later identified as Carly Jacobs, a resident of Kountze.

According to initial reports, Jacobs was driving a 2004 Ford SUV along the eastbound lanes of FM 1013 when it crashed into a 2003 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer. The impact of the collision seriously injured Jacobs and her three passengers. They were all taken to Baptist Hospital where they received further medical attention. Fortunately, the driver of the truck was unharmed.

Based on the initial investigation, the semi-trailer truck was backing into a private driveway when the accident took place. Police said a portion of the trailer was blocking the traffic.

The investigation continues.
