Heidenheimer – 51-year-old Patricia Nellums Died in Head-on Collision on US 190

Local authorities have identified the victims who died in a head-on crash on US Highway 190 last Monday.
The fatalities were named as Alicea Shafer, 48, of Rogers, and Patricia Nellums, 51, of Copperas Cove.
In a rural Bell County, responding officers were dispatched to US Highway 190 just after 2:10 p.m. Shafer was driving a Kia passenger vehicle along the eastbound lane when she drove into the oncoming traffic where she collided head-on with a Chevrolet SUV that was traveling along the westbound lane of the highway. Both Shafer and her passenger, Patricia Nellumsm died at the scene.
An unidentified passenger in the Chevrolet sustained significant injuries and was rushed to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple where she was listed in critical condition.
No one else was injured.
Investigators are still determining why Shafer veered into the opposing lanes.
