HCSO sergeant dies after hit-and-run crash on parkway in NE Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A HCSO sergeant died early Monday after being hit by a vehicle while working as an off-duty motorcycle escort in Houston’s Tidwell Lakes area, reports CW39.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the fatal incident occurred in the 8900 block of East Sam Houston Parkway North, near Tidwell Road, at around 12:30 a.m.
An early investigation shows the sergeant was riding a motorcycle and escorting a heavy load on the parkway’s service road when he was hit by a driver.
The 45-year-old sergeant suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. He was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities said the suspect, a 40-year-old woman, had fled the scene but was later located. She displayed signs of impairment and was arrested and charged with “intoxication manslaughter, failure to stop and render aid, and evading.”
