A two-year-old child died after a fatal car accident on Airline Drive near Blue Bell Road, reports say.
According to authorities, the tragic crash took place at about 6:42 p.m., Saturday, at the 10400 block of Airline Drive. A northbound gray Nissan Armada was attempting to make a left turn near the intersection of Airline and Blue Bell Road when it crashed into a white Dodge Ram 1500 traveling south on Airline Drive.
The force of the impact sent the Nissan spinning and in total wreck. The vehicle was torn apart, ejecting two occupants in the process. The back seat passenger, identified as 2-year-old girl Brianna Mejia, was transported to Houston Northwest Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. The front seat passenger, identified only as a woman, also sustained injuries from the crash.
The drivers of the Nissan and Dodge pickup truck also suffered from injuries that are considered non-threatening. They were also taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is still investigating the case but preliminary reports say that the Nissan may have failed to give way while turning left while the other driver is suspected for speeding.
With sincerest sympathies, we would like to express our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. Our prayers go out to the injured victims as we wish for their full recoveries. We strongly believe that the Houston Police Department will do everything to bring those responsible to justice.
